Company Profile

New Holland opened its doors in Auckland in 1998 and has rapidly expanded since then to establish itself as one of the most influential publishers of illustrated non-fiction in New Zealand.

Our success lies in a passion for quality and for the beautiful country that motivates us, our authors, photographers and designers. This has led our small but dedicated team to produce a fascinating and diverse list of books that are both inspirational and practical.

Our range spreads from travel, tourism and outdoor pursuits to food, wine, gardening, art and crafts. From natural history and reference to business, health, gift and humour.

Many of our titles have proved themselves both as bestsellers and award winners. Our evergreen pictorial, Portrait of New Zealand, recently went double platinum having sold over 200,000 copies in this country and we have 16 other titles that have achieved Premier New Zealand Bestseller status. In addition, a number of our food, wine and travel titles have won accolades in competitions locally and abroad, the most recent success being Julie Biuso's Sizzle, voted Best Barbecue Cookbook in English at the Gourmand World Cookbook Awards.

We supplement our very strong local publishing programme with books of a similar nature and quality from our associate companies in Sydney, London and Cape Town and from agency principals worldwide and at home. Our New Zealand books have in turn enjoyed success in several export markets, and are represented by an experienced foreign rights sales team in London that sells to every country in the world.
